and republicans with the same message, don't reelect them. there were counterchants. this is the president's sixth visit to san fransisco this year. he will take with him a lot of money and obviously closer to his goal of raising $1 billion for his campaign war chest. he spends the night here and then heads to ohio tomorrow, a crucial battleground state. . meanwhile, mitt romney's performance in last week's debate has given him a big bounce right past the president in one new national poll. a pew research survey gives the republican nominee a 4 point edge over voters. president obama had an eight point lead in that poll a week ago. romney has pulled even with the president among women voters.

erasing a 18 point obama heed going into the debate. and the republican nominee is doing better with younger voters. his popularity with the under 30 crowd jumped 10 points in the days following the debate. and mr. romney is turning the tables on the president's attacks on his foreign policy knowledge, speaking at the virginia military institute romney called the president's approach to the middle east passive and reactive. he says he knows the president hopes for a safer and freer middle east but add "hope is not a strategy." and as campaign 2012 heats up, we're holding a serious of presidential forums on line. the candidates answering our questions. tomorrow's topic, the role the government, big versus small. one of the hotly contested

local races is in san jose where it's about the minimum wage. kit dough says big money is being spent on defeating measure d. >> reporter: both sides are turning up the volume over measure d. today the chamber of commerce release add report, bottom line, up to 2800 jobs would vanish if the minimum wage went from 8 to $10 an hour. the study says hab costs would go -- labor costs would go up. and since more than half the workers live outside san jose they would spend the extra income outside of the city. >> it doesn't make sense to me. >> reporter: mayor chuck reed is worried about spending $600,000 to hire inspectors. >> it's going to have to come from somewhere, so should i take it from the police department, should i take it from the libraries, from the community

wage like. the unions have raised 2/3 of that. this is a closely watched race in november. . also tonight, a hercules neighborhood is remembering a beloved grandmother found murdered in his own home. this comes as the f.b.i. has joined the investigation into this crime. elizabeth cook on what the family is doing on its own to try to find the killer. >> reporter: in a stunning show of support, hundreds of family and friends marched behind susie ko's husband and four children as they walked to the vigil. calvin ko spoke to the crowd. >> everybody -- she was such a good mother, that's why i [ inaudible ] i always call her mommy, too.

>> reporter: long time friend deanana ceoni spoke, too. >> she did a lot of good things for people. >> reporter: her body was found in her home after her husband called a neighbor to check on her after she didn't pick him up at the airport. she had been stabbed and suffered blunt force trauma to the head. i was so devastated, i -- >> i was so devastated, i couldn't believe it was happening. >> reporter: the hercules don't have all the necessary resources so the f.b.i. is assisting in the case. >> last homicide was 2010, we've had 5 homicides in the last ten years. >> reporter: the f.b.i. hope to allow the family back into the home in the next couple of days to help with the investigation. they're hoping to find susie's

of piedmont where a 10-year-old autistic boy has been missing all evening. valentino salimo was riding a scooter when he got separated from his father. this happened around 6:30 tonight. he is about 4' 9", weighing 80 pounds. he was wearing a dark and light blue striped shirt and grey pants. mees call piedmont police if you see him. new at 11, the causes may be different this time around but the effect seems to be the same every time. windows smashed, buildings trashed by out of control protesters in oakland. we have the mayor's take on the latest night of violence and why there were no arrests. >> reporter: it was over before oakland police could react. an antiwar protest that started sunday in san fransisco. and descended on oakland. >> they hopped on the b.a.r.t.,

right way. don't act in violence. >> reporter: occupiers famously toppled a city hall replica last january and burned an american flag. city hall has been damaged half a dozen times this year alone by protesters. and the occupy movement anniversary is two days away. you can see crews trying to repair $35,000 in damage done to the bank. police are working with nearby businesses to look at surveillance video. the baseball team, the a's, that's right, mayor kwon had a rally ahead of the game. it is do or die for the green and gold as they are behind 2-0.

a board of supervisors will vote on whether to remove the sheriff from office for official misconduct. the guilty plea in connection with a domestic abuse case makes him unfit to hold office. 9 supervisors have to agree to remove him. record ridership on b.a.r.t. this past weekend. saturday alone 300,000 people opted for public transit. b.a.r.t. added additional trains and train cars to accommodate people coming into san fransisco for a shoe of events -- slew of events. a delay will allow time for closed door negotiations on fines to be levied against pg&e. the hearings will resume next week. that blast killed eight people and destroyed dozens of homes more than two years ago. california gas prices, the

highest in the nation. congratulations. bay area drivers are fed up. tonight some state leaders are demanding answers. the average gallon of regular gas right now, $4.74 in san fransisco, $4.68 in oakland, $4.67 in san jose. with prices going through the roof, there are calls for a federal investigation. >> yes. >> probably political expediency. >> reporter: that was a sampling at the local gas station. >> i took the action that the state can, and that is to change the blend in the gasoline to make sure more fuel is available which should drive down the price. >> reporter: dian feinstein weighed in as well calling for a

federal investigation into what she calls malicious trading scheme in the california gas market. however, it's unlikely there is a conspeary going on here by the oil companies. >> what might be going on and still be very difficult to detect is individual companies figuring out if they put a little less gasoline on to the market the prices will be higher. and if that's the case, it is going to be difficult to detect, and even if we did, there's nothing i will heel about that -- illegal about that. >> but what the gaming the system? >> we use a bhend of gas heen that's not used -- blend of gasoline that's not used anywhere else in the country. >> reporter: and while the governor has ordered to allow the winter blend gas to come in is no long term answer to the problem, at this point the public will take any relief they

hoe clouds off shore, concord is 57, 52 in santa rosa, 59 in san fransisco. one number that you don't see there is m 3.3 but it's 9:09 this morning they had an earthquake. this is outhieg fairfield, this part of the -- outlying fairfield, this part of the epicenter. it was a magnitude 3.3 and that's from the green valley fault, and as you can see in this plot of epicenter since 1984, there's a little cluster of quakes popping around there. it's because it's part of the reason mount deablo is there, it gets bumped up every year. it's got a portion of the earth's crust squeezed in between those faults and you get uplifts and some day it had produce a 6.5. just a little shaker this
